Goldig Films identified many talented actors and actresses and were active in promoting these new talents. Many prominent figures today were our exclusive artists during the infant days of their careers.
Among some 50 artists who acted in Goldig Films movies, Chow Yun-fat is today an internationally prominent actor and celebrity. In 1976, we identified Chow when he was a trainee at TVB. His contract with TVB was confined to television appearances only. Between 1976 and 1978, Chow was involved in a total of six movies though a strictly exclusive contract with our company. These movies were reviewed in 'Hong Kong Action Cinema,' by Bye Logan (Titan Books, 1995); and 'Asian Cult Cinema,' by Thomas Weisser (Boulevard Books, 1997). Unfortunately, Chow breached his contract with our company unlawfully by not completing all movies as well as acted in movies by other companies without our consent.
In the 1980s, we successfully made claims against Chow and a Judgement was subsequently issued by a law court in Hong Kong. However, we decided not to pursue further at the end so that he may continue to prosper in his career without the potential devastating effects on his financial stability and reputation
